BEFF 4 : Bangkok Democrazy


This year theme focuses about democracy (democrazy). We concern about inclusion, participation and freedom of expression. We would like to apply the democratic way of working by adopting democracy ideology. We look forward to see the equality of people. We are welcomed everybody who wants to express their opinions without discrimination of race, religion, class or culture. Thus, everybody will have right to present and perceive what they believe as well as what they want to see, to hear and to experience. There will be special programs, “Bangkok Utopia”, included with the guest’s filmmaker who came from different background, to be ‘a film director’. Workshop which allow audiences or anybody who’s interested in doing experimental films to do it in the workshop station, with the support team. Their films will be screened at the end of the day.

The Festival Activities will consist of outdoor screenings programs, retrospective, workshop and Seminar. The film programs will consist of various programs as followed :

1. Bangkok Utopia An experimental film by artists and non-artists to explore their utopia in Bangkok urban context.
2. Thai Experiment made by students and young artists or video / filmmakers.
3. Extreme Film Focusing on the films which challenge social value, and norms. This program will organize in conjunction to discussion session with filmmakers and experts.
4. Anna Sanders Film Collection
5. Tsunami Film
works by local and international artists on tsunami incidents.
6. BEFF4 on tour
7. Works by local and international filmmakers
8. Open Screen One screen will be open to audiences and late participants

All programs will screen outdoor except Extreme Film and Retrospective.
